Why would you even pledge allegiance to a cloth? Lol America is weird

Putting aside all the politics etc, surely the whole idea of freedom is that you shouldn't be forced to take the pledge. She has every right not to stand.

Stand your ground young lady, this is exactly what it means to be an American. Freedom to express anything you won't. Ignore the haters.

I absolutely agree with her and support her!

You are lucky to be in America. Move to the Middle East and feel REAL prejudice.

So you cover this but ignore the story of the kids compared to Nazis by their teacher for wearing MAGA t-shirts. More objective journalism from the UK’s own Pravda.

This girl is obviously smarter than almost everyone in this comment section, guess that´s why they´re all so afraid of her.

Refuse to stand during pledge of allegiance and receive harassment. Her response? Throws out black card. Logic.

Why are there more stories about the United States and its politics than there are about the United Kingdom? Seems the BBC is meddling in politics in the United States

I wouldn't stand for that flag either but she's gotta stop acting like a victim.

The prejudice and racism is coming more from the black community.

Your feelings are not facts, go away now.

I thank BBC for presenting yet another evidence how much liberty and freedom US citizens enjoy, no matter how mis-guided some of them can be.

It's time to take a stand. This girl has lots of courage. It's time to put a stop racism and fascism.

I was with her until she started blaming it on racism.

It’s her right to not stand during the pledge of allegiance.

Guys this is her opinion. If she doesn't like how things are going in her school and country, she's allowed to speak up. As an American she is entitled to her opinion.

So much respect for this little sis. Keep speaking out, no matter what the bigots say. They can't silence us anymore and it kills them.

Being black is so hard in the US is it? Despite black people getting favourable treatment in university position just because of skin colour?
