This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences.

Otto Cars is Senior Professor of Infectious Diseases at Uppsala University. He runs a research lab that finds new ways to treat multi-resistant bacteria with existing antibiotics. His deep frustration with the lack of action against the approaching worldwide disaster of antibiotic resistance has brought him to the TEDx stage. How could we have been hiding with our heads in the sand from this global threat?

About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

People need to take more responsibility for their own health. As well as taking more exercise and eating food that vitalises. Eating more organic, biodynamic food, whilst refusing the practices of some manufacturers especially processed food. There should be a law against cattle farmers using antibiotics. There is no need for pasteurised milk anymore. In fact raw milk is safer. The food industry needs to take a long hard look at itself and the diseases it is producing due to mass marketing caused by greedy corporate companies. People can change things by buying more locally and less out of supermarkets.

Don't worry, private health care will save us by only treating what's profitable.
