I accidentally moved the switch from "unlock" to "lock" position, hence the trunk wouldn't open regardless the release button, remote and master key that I used. I brought my car to Hyundai Service dealer, they couldn't figure it out and asked me to make an appointment for the following week. Literally THIS GUY IS THE TRUTH. My 2012 Hyundai Sonata. I locked my keys in the trunk. I was able to unlock the car with a wire hanger but there’s no latch inside the car for the seats. And they are that way so people who break in can’t access the trunk. This video allowed me to get the seats down and crawl in to use the emergency release in the trunk to get it open.

So glad I found this video!! I locked my in the trunk of my 2011 sonata. It was a pain trying to pull the latch because 1. We thought it was black like the video (silly us) and 2. We were trying to pull it with a wire hanger which was not strong enough and our screw driver wouldn’t fit through the hole. I tried a butter knife and it popped out finally! Very happy I didn’t have to pay for a new key!! Thank you so much for this video!

Dude i have wasted my whole day at my mechanic and he couldn’t do it bc i did lock the trunk from the switch inside, but when i got back home i watched couple videos and i was like i’m not gonna sleep till i open that damn trunk bc i have a hell of persistency blood then i found your video and literally i was able to take my back seats down and pop my trunk in just 5 min, thanks a lot & i do really appreciate your video.

Thank you so much! I had locked my mom’s keys in the trunk and i was in a bit of a mood. I felt bad bc my mother would’ve had to get a locksmith spending around $100-$300 so after stumbling upon this video, we decided to give it a shot because my mom’s car is a 2011 Hondai Sonata. So, my family and I after all watching this video, worked together to open the back seat to get the keys. After, our hard work in attempting to open the back seat, we finally opened it and got our keys! So again, i want to truly thank you for this video.

Brilliant! You are brilliant . . . not Hyundai. I have a 2011 Sonata 2.0t Trunk went down on a little branch from a bush I had gotten too close to. The branch snapped off, flicked up and hit the lock button. Tried the trunk key hole with lock de-icer, Ronson multi-lube but it's jammed (never used.) So, I find your solution and was able to reach in with a tool and unlock it. Thank you so much.
