Genius move to make your own animal endangered so you can lease them out to other countries because now they are so exotic and rare

The baby was born in America. That makes it an American citizen.

He said 10 pandas STILL live in the United States which leads me to believe that all 17 were born in the United States which makes me wonder if China is even capable of breeding pandas or if they rely on other countries to do that for them

Honestly, China can have their pandas back. Those things burns money. Those money could be use to preserve other endangered species that are actually benefit the eco-system than someone's ego.
And knowing what Chinese will do for profit, if the pandas has other benefit than political usage, they would hunt all those pandas down for some absurd panda oil medicine.

lol, I wonder how CHY-NA would feel about their Pandas actually turning into tricycle riding, Vodka drinking, side show circus freaks while being in Russia?

Actually Pandas are from Tibet, you know? In 1965, Champa region was given to Sichuan province

Sure, pandas are nice but $1m a year? No wonder entry to the zoo is so expensive. We can do without them!

It would be a shame if some country just forgot to give back the pandas, then started breeding them and giving them to anybody who wants them

sad that people cant discern how old the bear is to how old pandas actually live...

It feels like some sort of long con by an abusive ex to pay her money to take care of your kid, that she's actively abusing. And then she posts catty updates on social media if she's trying to get more stuff out of you.

Just this once, I'm aware of an issue before you guys talked about it on stream. This topic has been discussed on mainstream media from time to time

For the US I'm not going to debate Panda diplomacy because I know that's a real thing.

Yes what the Chinese spokeswoman did was a weak way of trying to walk back some of the more aggressive tones that have come out from Chinese leaders towards the US and other countries the US was military treaties with. The Chinese govt. also put themselves in a bad situation with their attacks against American zoos because we have successful breeding programs.

The US though is somewhat immune to this diplomacy because in China and the US there is a good cooperative conservation program, in spite of the CCP. I'm not going to say it's supported the way it should be or that the govt. cares that much, but they DO understand the Panda as a symbol of China and know it's endangered. They also know that a breeding program is REALLY hard to do with Pandas in captivity and it happens in the US, so we actually breed to use those pandas to boost the breeding stock AND we give cubs back to China that we feel will have a good change of being successful in the wild. Sure there have been moments when the Chinese govt. puts pressure on our programs to give them back pandas, but in the end the US has maintained pandas at a few locations and it's BECAUSE of the successful breeding program here. So our programs work with the Chinese programs and in general they work well together. If their govt. would stay out of it we'd probably have more success. As was pointed out in the video, it was Chinese scientists who came over to check the bears. And to be clear these would have been specialists that work with the Chinese conservation programs, and are certainly smart enough to ignore the outrage and what the Chinese govt. does to fan flames, and in THAT community these would have been non issues since after all they know it takes a global community for conservation of ALL endangered species around the world.

So for anyone who comes across this, know that in the US the goal IS to return pandas to China to help with their conservation program and boost numbers of wild pandas in China and the people in our programs do it willingly. There is no way the older bears would have been flown back because they would have had to be hidden from the public.
