Enrico Caruso (tenor) - Hosanna (Didiee & Granier) (1912)

Enrico Caruso sings Granier's wonderful Easter song (published in 1902) 'Hosanna,' recorded by Victor at Camden on 7 December 1912.

Caruso's French is rather good, but for those interested the words are as follows:

Un homme est mort,
il va renaître.
Peuples Chrétiens,
il va paraître.
Ne pleurez plus,
levez les yeux,
les séraphins
illuminent les cieux.

Dans la sphère azurée,
c’est leur voix inspirée
qui bénit le Seigneur
Jésus Christ rédempteur.

Ô Jésus, tu m’embrases
de célestes extases.
Je te vois, ô divin roi.
Hosanna! gloire à toi!

La sombre nuit
voilait encore
du fils de Dieu

From Wikipedia: Enrico Caruso (25 February 1873 – 2 August 1921) was an Italian operatic tenor. He sang to great acclaim at the major opera houses of Europe and the Americas, appearing in a wide variety of roles (74) from the Italian and French repertoires that ranged from the lyric to the dramatic. One of the first major singing talents to be commercially recorded, Caruso made 247 commercially released recordings from 1902 to 1920, which made him an international popular entertainment star.

Thank you very much, particularly for the effort you kindly made to supply both the French & an English translation. The translation (which from what I can understand looks to have been beautifully done) helped me to understand it more fully than I'd been able to do from reading the French. It's splendidly sung.
