Jessye Norman's artistry came at a huge price, personally. She was so devoted to her art to the expense of just about everything else. I had the pleasure of meeting her twice. She sang at my commencement from college. Her diction is perfect in every language her timber is magnificent and thrilling. And her spinto, or the ability to sing above the orchestra and in some cases sing above a pipe organ, Is unparalleled. I don't think I have been moved by any singer more than I have been moved by her. And I study voice so I know what it takes to produce that kind of sound. It seems to be magical. But with her it was sacrifice, discipline, work work work and magnificent talent if not divine.

I sincerely believe that whenever this woman sings, the Holy Spirit directly works through her magnificent voice, touching and inspiring people's hearts and awakening in people an understanding of the love, grace and mercy of God! RIP

We give thanks that such a great Opera Diva lived amongst us and shared the greatness of her artistry with us .RIP DEAREST JESSE. I will never forget sitting next to you at a Shirley Bassey concert at Carnegie Hall. We both chatted about how much we loved Ms. Bassey, The great diva of contemporary music and James Bond fame. Jesse you were hip!!!

What a miracle, what an exceptional story our Jessye Norman brought to life. She found her way through the maze that can dampen or kill the dreams of people with special artistic gifts. That journey took her to Germany, specifically Berlin, where her enormous talent blossomed. Before long her brilliance would be seen and appreciated by those who knew what it was she had. THAT is the miracle and I am thankful that her intelligence and her determination led her on the path to make it all happen.
