The first line is by far the biggest point. The best way to long term power is money and global economic influence. The best way to make money is to have peace that facilitates trade and business. It’s to spend money on stuff that lasts and leads to more stuff, rather than to spend it on things that explode and destroy your other things.


Putins chosen a strategy that gives good medium term power. Which makes sense cuz he’s 70 - and clearly couldn’t care less about what happens to the Russian people after he’s gone.
