In his talk, Dr. Jürgen Hench demonstrates how methylome data enables the Neuropathology Department of the University Hospital Basel to diagnose brain cancers as part of their clinical daily routine. Crucial for their work is their new Epidip platform, which uses standard dimension reduction of more than 18,000 cases to find cancer samples with similar methylome patterns. Excitingly, they have recently started to use Oxford Nanopore as a new sequencing technology to provide even faster and cheaper diagnostics.
