About a year ago, the KSL Investigators went under the hood of some "connected" smart cars to see what kind of information they were gathering on us. University of Utah professor Sean Lawson told us consumers are sacrificing privacy for convenience.

Feeling pretty smug about driving an older car? Just wait until they start charging more for cars that aren’t internet connected. I’m buying a horse. 😐

The premiums for car "insurance"... add up
to the price of an average working used car every few months.

All those cars have a transmitter. It's just a matter of finding and removing it.

Car-makers aren't sharing your driving history...they are selling it to anyone that will pay for it.

Insurance companies: America, we want that data to make sure consumers have the best insurance product.

Sounds illegal, and insurance companies will be sued.

But she never provided proof that her insurance increased because of her car ? I never heard her say her insurance company said it was because of her car connection

Toyota allows you to opt out of this sharing through the app, or your dealer. Can’t speak for other brands though.

The antenna is usually located inside the touch screen and uses phone networks. There are a few prepper videos from years ago that talk about this technology, what it could mean, and how to disable it. This device as well as your cellphone also allow for geo tracking of you by the government and law enforcement. It's completely conceivable in the future with 15 minute cities this technology could be used to prevent you from driving your car outside of your zip code.

companies are getting too big and powerful, they're also now working together instead of against one another. a scenario where there is no winning for consumers. it's called financial slavery.

Who is surprised by this? When something is free, YOU are the product being sold. How do you think they are paying for free internet access in your car?
My 97 Wrangler does NOT have this issue.

does anyone know specifically how the new spying cars connect to the internet? do they have individual cell phone connectivity built into them?
