I identify with Harry. The amount of pain that kid have been thru in his life was unjustified and astonishing. He had good things after the war- Super hot girl he married, best of friends, kids, Teddy whom he felt probably like his uncle. However the memories always hunt him down. For reasons I can't expose publicly I too suffer from PTSD. I do have a therapist and it is helping, but Dean let me tell you something brother- The pain and horror never really go away no matter how much you treat. Always my past comes to remind me who I was and who I am today even if I sometimes want to forget.

It's basically ptsd, but with the benefit of being a fictional character. Real people live with this real pain. Everyone is fighting a battle you don't know about.

Harry's "recovery" from those traumas is just another reason why I think he and Ginny were a much better fit that those who wanted to see him with Hermione. She wasn't with him looking for the horcruxes so she didn't have to process that, making it easier for Harry to lean on her. She had been directly under Voldemort's influence in Chamber so could relate, at least in some way, to Harry's trauma of having a mental connection to him. She also lost her brother so she could relate to and share in his grief. Given she became a reporter she could help him deal with the stress of fame and would totally understand and support his need for privacy. Plus, Ginny is very assertive, unlike Hermione, and would step in on Harry's behalf if she felt it necessary no matter who it was. And lastly, in some ways she definitely understands expectations being put on someone as she was the only daughter in a family with 6 older brothers. Though the Weasley's are great parents, there is no doubt she felt that pressure and struggled to define herself beyond not only being the only daughter but also beyond being a Weasley. It also helps she has a much better sense of humor than Hermione and would be much more equipped to help Harry in his dark moments. She's also extremely patient and open-minded so even if it's something she doesn't understand she wouldn't disregard it or require explanations like Hermione would. This is evident in her friendship with Luna. Just my opinion.

I agree wholeheartedly that Harry's journey had been a sad story and he even has to live with PTSD for the rest of his days. A permanent scar which Voldemort left behind.

I can only compare it with the 3rd Star Wars movie: Revenge of the Sith.

The only light was the family which Harry created with Ginny, seeing Albus about to board the Hogwarts Express for the first time for his first year at Hogwarts, it reminds me when Owen and Beru and Bail and his wife adopting the Twins respectively. I can see Albus and his siblings represent to Harry Potter as: The New Hope.

When Harry was in limbo, and thought about going forward instead of back, I’m sure part of that had to be seeking relief from it all.

*Amazing video!*
Harry always lived in surviving mode since he was one. He endured Voldemort's first attack.
Then had to endure all the bullying at school, from Dudley and his gang.
Then the abuse at home from uncle Vernon, aunt Petunia, Dudley, Marge, Ripper... uff! That definitely thickened Harry's skin for sure.

And I never thought about Harry really having the burden of being the boy who lived, to then living up to that pressure. Then being the wizard who no longer needed to save the wizarding world.
That must had been very conflicting to Harry the first years after the defeat of Voldemort and his Deatheaters.

Harry had Ginny in his corner through thick and thin. I like to think that he trio and close friends got together and talked about some of their losses and kept the memories of the departed ones alive. It’s never mentioned but maybe even a group from St. Mungos and some specialised healers were available with some spells and potions when the Blue Meanies really caused some depression.

Yes, Harry lived a very difficult life and there’s no way he was just “fine” in the post Voldy era but I like to think he was so much more joyful and appreciative of normal life after the war that he was mostly fine. Plus Harry has met people who’ve died (Albus, parents, Sirius, etc) so maybe that gave him some solace that death is not the end but the next great adventure.

Though it's an inferior story overall, I think "The Hunger Games" deals with the post traumatic stress a LOT better than HP.

Harry and Ginny go on to have children with Ginny becoming a professional Quidditch player and Harry becoming head Auror.

Katniss and Peeta go on to have children, but they pretty much spend the rest of their lives just thankful that those children will never know the horrors they faced. Also, Peeta is pretty much a broken silent emotionally twisted shell of a man for several years.

What if the Lucius and the Malfoys were double agents with Snape
(Not saying they aren’t snobs or anything but they are really looking out for their family and themselves and playing both sides help benefit them the greatest)

This would be a good continuation of the story and they could bring back the original trio to show how Harry found the wizard he was supposed to be.

You are right except that his life had a sense. Most people live without something worth to live for. That really is losing. Take yourself as an example. How many thousands of content makers are senseless? Thats why they sell themselves. To the followers no matter what. You are not that case, you have principles, and therefore, I congratulate you! Keep going!

Yes, Harry and the others probably did go through PTSD for other symptoms, but as another comment to said they probably had healers and potions, and the jump forward 19 years later clearly shows Harry has battled his PTSD and learn to live with it. They still won and Harry won another victory when he learnt to live with his PTSD they never lost.
