It's nice now Zanzibar to be known by the world. And it is become famous for tourist, but it make expensive for Zanzibaris who live outside to go home😢, the aeroplane tkt becaome expensive

The problem with Zanzibar is that one is harassed nonstop by local people wanting to sell you something or be a "guide". Also, in Stone Town they were harassing my girlfriend. The women claimed that she was "naked", for wearing a normal summer dress, while the guys were making nasty sexual comments. It is a beautiful island, but I would not return there due to the locals being like that. There are also constant attempts at vastly overcharging tourists.

its actually not as wonderful as what people would imagine. It is sooo touristy, that you cant really enjoy it. From thumping bass music, that goes long into the night-every european wants to have their own night club on the beach, so the locals are disturbed all night. Plus, people yell, ''mzungu'' at you all day, and you can't enjoy peace and quiet on the beach, as the beach boys, most of whom are not real Maasai, will stand right in front of you, or follow you for kilometers, trying to get you to buy stuff.

Just returned from Zanzibar. Rather disappointed, to be honest. Too crowded, too dirty, and too many sellers on the beach (and kids begging, especially in Kendwa). Maybe it was the time of the year - end of January, IDK... Just for the record, I have traveled extensively on a shoestring in South and Central America, Northern and South Africa, South East Asia, etc., so I'm not too picky. Don't get me wrong: it's ok to visit after a few (amazing) days on safaris in mainland TZ, but wouldn't choose it as a destination per se for my vacations. For me, three days was more than enough.
