If I had a dollar for every time I see that commercial on CW television charge Network CBS 6 or stadium they play them every single day Monday through Friday Saturday through Sunday in the afternoon the most I don't understand why they ain't shutting them down that's messed up

I'm in Missouri and these commercials run on every channel almost non-stop. It drives me crazy. And getting these so called celebrity endorsements to push this crap, does nothing but ruin the credibility and any fan base these "celebrities" may have left. It's celebrity suicide. I actually work for this company and I HATE THIS AD!!! I get calls ALL OF THE TIME asking just for $144. I’m a licensed insurance broker in 25 states and I want to find the best plan for people, not talk about $144. I have complained about it, and my managers have even admitted that it’s a bait and switch, but the company won’t change the ads. Even the job aide we use is designed to essentially ignore the $144 question, and start asking you questions about your insurance. We are an insurance broker and nearly none of my calls are about insurance, which is the dumbest thing ever!!!
Yes there are some plans in some states with sizable givebacks but mostly it’s in highly populated areas of Southern California, Texas and Florida. Most of the time the only plans that have the giveback is MA only plans, which unless you’re a veteran with VA coverage you shouldn’t take those plans.
Most of us who work at this company are honest hard working agents who just want to sell insurance. This ad is a serious problem!

Christian, Kudos for this awesome video. I too, as an agent have had many clients "fooled" into believing these ads. And like the scenario you mentioned, they enrolled these clients in plans that didn't cover drugs in their formulary that would have cost them thousands in drug costs if I hadn't caught it before OEP ended Also, many were enrolled in plans that didn't have the beneficiaries PCP and/or specialists in network. What's so sad is that many of these clients didn't qualify for a Special Election Period so they were stuck in a plan that didn't meet their needs until the following January.

You will VERY rarely get a part B giveback without being on Medicaid and having them pay that prenium for you. Any other route you take for a part B giveback slashes your benefits in half and typically they only give you about $35 back a month- not $144. I currently work with GoHealth and this bait and switch tactic is also used in their recruitment model. Anytime any concern is raised they go out of their way to make you overlook it, or you can leave.

I just had to sign up for Medicare. The 1st question I asked my SS specialist was if I qualified for any free benefits as per all the commercials I'd been seeing. She said those commercials were a scam and warned me not to ever call those numbers as they were just salesmen. It turns out if you have an IRA or any savings at all you will not qualify for any extra help. These commercials should be banned!

I've worked for medicare, and this ad is the bane of my existence. I feel so bad for the elderly people that call up trying to get help. It makes it rough on us too, because they think we're lying when we tell them the truth.

So I work for gohealth/gomedicare, I'll tell you exactly what we do, we aim for plans that will get them dental/vision/hearing coverage and figure out if they need it or don't need it, We also check prescriptions and doctors to make sure they are covered before switching plans
We also will look at the copay's they are paying on their doctors or any other areas as well. When it comes to the "144 giveback" it is a real thing, but when we search for plans, usually out of 100 plans on 10-20 will offer some of the money back on Part B, and it goes from anywhere between 40-140 from what i've seen. If a plan offers that we will enroll them only if they will actually be saving money broken down on a monthly/yearly basis based on how frequently they actually use services. We use Marx to determine if they are in a better plan than what we can offer, after all if we put them in a worse off situation they can use their 30 day free look period to decide whether or not to keep the coverage, employee's get paid a small compensation at the 30 day mark, and full compensation at 90 days. If they disenroll from the plan, before 30 days we don't get paid compensation, If they disenroll before 90 days the insurance company doesn't pay gohealth and go health loses money. So It's our top priority to actually help people so that they stick in the plans we put them in. I know it's an annoyingly aggressive commercial but it's not a lie, it's just health insurance.
