Yeah, pets have the impressive instinct to know when there is a young creature around. Because once they know you’re very young, a lot of pets always are protective to the babies. It’s always so wholesome.

finally a responsive couple! you do not leave babies (whether animal or human) alone with another grown animal, it's not out of distrust but safety! no matter how much you trust that animal, some things happen and animals respond in ways we may not appreciate. Always watch your kids with your pets and vice versa, because accidents can happen! i've had that happen to me, family pet was unknowingly injured, and i got bit as a reflex, he wasn't doing it intentionally. were i not old enough to have explained why he did that, he would've been designated a dangerous dog despite never biting someone.

i wouldn't leave a pet (cat, dog, rabbit, reptile, etc or even fish since kids will mess with em) alone with children until they're 13 or so can be trusted to act appropriately and have been told how to respect animals, and they can explain WHY they were bit/clawed.

Well, boxer are perfect for people that have kids! I had many during my life and the last one my mom had (called Fosca), was so protective with my oldest niece.. without anyone teaching her, the second my niece started walking towards the stairs, Fosca would go in front of her and block the way towards the stairs(the stairs were going downstairs, so she prevented my niece from falling downstairs). She went go into “nanny” mode every time my niece was at my moms.
