You know a film is good when both main actors are nominated for best actor

Mozart was famous for adding notes where they were not normally played while also playing time signatures that were not popular and making them coherent enough for any person to enjoy.

Nobody can show resentment and introverted anger better than that actor!

"The rest is just the same isn't it?"

Bro, that was a violation...

Mozart: “I’ll take your shit, remix it and make it better.”

Hard work beats talent, but when talent works hard, its game over...

That laugh! Just the perfect blend if fun, oblivious joy, and absolute madness.

True story here:
Mozart had to go to Vienna to "take an exam" to be admitted into the Royal Church Union of composers (or whatever it was called) when he was still very young, less than 16 whichbwould have made him the youngest ever. The applicant was required to do many things, including write in a closed room.
So, upon arriving, the church brought out a special work that was only played once a year. All the music was kept locked up and nobody was allowed to see more than the part that they were to play, then the music was loved away until the following year.
Mozart heard the piece and commented on it. For some reason he was challanged and so he sat down amd wrote the whole piece from memory, after one hearing only!!!
The old guys were astonded and blown away. Of course he was allowed entry and accepted into the club!!!

To me AMADEUS is one of the 10 best movies of all time. As a music teacher, and a HUGE fan of Mozart's work, I can say the amount of detail and music rehearsal is absurd. Both actors playing Mozart and Salieri are really playing the harpsichord on their scenes. Greetings from Brasil

That giggle was my favorite part of the movie. It had me convinced Mozart was absolutely MAD!!

It really is hard as an old man to see a young man with more talent in something you’ve spent your whole life doing.

I read somewhere that Abraham and Hulce were the best of friends off the set. That's probably why they worked so well together.

Everyone's facial expressions are so telling in this scene. Just phenomenal acting all the way around. One of my all time favorite movies.

The scene where Salieri is describing Mozart's work is one of the most beautifully acted ever. F. Murray Abraham is phenomenal.

From the NY Times: "But for his role as Mozart he had to learn to play the piano and spent four hours a day with a piano teacher for a full month before filming began. ''My fingers ached, '' Mr. Hulce recalled. ''After working at the piano all day, I wanted to go out and drink and listen to rock and roll." 😎

I'm so grateful for a college professor that made this movie a required watch.

ETA: thanks for the love on this comment, even if there are some curmudgeons that think watching movies as part of college is a waste of money. Some of you all need to stop taking life so seriously.
