SITC presents NSCLC Immunotherapy: Advancing Hope, the newest in a series of videos focusing on immunotherapy for NSCLC patients. This video provides an overview of the building blocks of the immune system and immunotherapy, while also highlighting some of the FDA approved immunotherapy treatments and potential side effects, and the importance of clinical trials.

*This video was produced prior to the October 2016 FDA approvals of 1) TECENTRIQ® (atezolizumab, Genetech, Inc.) in patients whose disease progressed despite treatment with platinum-containing chemotherapy and 2) KEYTRUDA® (pembrolizumab; Merck & Co., Inc.) as first-line therapy in patients whose tumors express high levels of PD-L1 on an FDA-approved test, without certain genetic mutations (EGFR or ALK). As a leader in the field of cancer immunotherapy research and education, SITC will continue to update this video series as additional immunotherapy treatments become available.

you can't imagine how useful this video was for me whose father is diagnosed with cancer. sharing the experience helps lots of people with the same problem be aware of the existence of the new methods of therapy and this is life saving.

Thank you so much for this information... My father was diagnosed with an advanced type of lung cancer a few days ago and hearing about immunotherapy gave him/us new hope. I was just wondering, the doctor treating him said that they would only start the immunotherapy if the chemo helps as well where in this video it's comes across that immunotherapy is also worth a shot when nothing else helps? Should we insist on starting immunotherapy also when the chemo doesn't do its job? Thank you for reading this and spreading this valuable information...

Thank you for sharing! I’d like to ask if you had the operation before this immunotherapy or you started after chemo? I wonder if the operation is necessary for patients who have advanced lung cancer before starting PD-1 treatment?
