BEGINNER Crochet Caron Cupcakes Kids Beanie Hat

The ball bands of the Caron Cupcakes Yarn has a free crochet beanie pattern for 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 year old kids. Having done this pattern already, I did the 8 year old in tutorial format to test how far the yarn would really go. My 8 year old size fits me and I still have yarn left over. My tension is a bit loose. But this proves to me, though there are kids sizes, you can easily do adult sizes with the yarn that is available in the ball.

For the smaller kids sizes, you will be able to get at least 2 hats out of one ball. One hat with a pom pom, the other without. Great for charity ideas.

This video is closed-captioned for the deaf and hard-of-hearing communities. The captioning is also available in multiple languages such as Spanish, French, German, Italian and Portuguese. The written pattern is only available in English. . *** .

Thank you. I had the yarn for 2 years and had lost directions. You were so clear. Turned out so cute.

I can't thank you enough for doing these videos! I'm a very visual learner and your vids are fabulous. I have many beautifully illustrated crochet pattern books and I could NEVER figure it out but a girlfriend of mine suggested YouTube videos a few years ago and it changed my yarn game forever.

I'm so glad that you showed the side where you join and move up to the next round. I've done a few beanies and thought I was doing something wrong because the stitches never lined up. So I stopped trying thinking I was doing something extremely wrong. Thank you for all your videos as well. I learn so much from you!

Made this hat in strawberry kiwi- was a little difficult to find at the local Michaels. Every store is different. Very happy with the results! Caron cupcakes yarn is perfect for kids projects.

Great tutorial. Glad you mentioned how to deal with the pom Pom. However the sizes were so off. I did the 10 yr old size and it literally looked like a bowl after I finished it 😂

I used a 3.5mm hook and I was able to make one size 10 and one size 8 with just enough yarn left over to make a second pompom! Great deal!

I must have increased to many stitches mine is real wavy. Darn really thought I was doing ok. Love these Chunky Caron Cupcakes. I’m a beginner I think I need an easier pattern. I better start frogging this. 😢The yarn is fabulous !!! I love it. I need to start using more Caron yarn.❤❤

This video is the only reason I was able to finish the hat after having it on a shelf for 6 years 😂. It was collecting so much dust, and the instructions are not beginner friendly at all. But this video is very clear!

Thanks for showing what to do when the string comes out of the pompom! I thought I had ruined it!

I find that no matter what yarn I use they all turn out to fit a 20" have changed needle size and all is well. This yarn though I must say is beautiful....I make hats for children in the hospitals just to have when they go outside. Yarn is real easy to work with!

Actually if you pull lightly on the knot, or use a needle on the knot for the pompom, it comes loose so you have ALL the string to use.

Hi Mikey thank you for this tutorial. I was wondering how to use the Caron cupcake yarn. I also was wondering, do you think I could use the magic ring to start the hat? Or, should I just follow the directions. I love starting with the magic ring. Thank you for your great tutorials. Hope to hear from you. 😊Kim W.
