Bought the record in 1976 at the age of 16 and always admired it, despite critics that quoted on the album cover that “it didn't work“. Jon Lord was a thoroughbred musician, and so were the other band members of Deep Purple Mk. II. Such class! Decades later I found the DVD and was experiencing in film what I had listened to hundreds of times before, which was adding a new dimension to the experience. Seeing this in 2020 consciously makes me very emotional, as they don't c o m p o s e such music any more these days. Actually, the first concert I saw, at the age of 13, was Deep Purple mk.II in Offenburg/Germany, but what always intrigued me, was Jon Lord's fusion of rock and classical music. With hindsight, this has been such a daring experiment, and such an achievement by these young musicians.

By the hell ! Who would be able today, in 2019, to write such a wonderful music, so rich, so complex, so emotional ?
When I ear the rap "musac", and i remember the sixties and the seventies, i cry

The best drum solo ever! That sudden flurry. Even the notoriously smug and sniffy (allegedly) orchestra
were taken aback by that solo. It seems they were more impressed by Paice than by the
band itself.

It's hard to believe that the guys were around 21 years old at that time. I mean what a career.

Another reason why Mark2 was the greatest group of pure rock musicians of all-time. After this they went on to create their own genre with the monumental "In Rock" album. It was a genre of which only they ever played. Each of Mark2 was the best at what they did.
