I remember going through basic traing (US Army) and near the end, you spend a week out in the field. So our DS's would sneak into our tents and try stealing our rifles and if they did, you had to "earn" it back. So i slept with the sling wrapped around my arm. I remember being woken up 1 night to my arm being tugged on, i just looked up and gave my DS a smile, he gave me a thumbs up and I went back to sleep. That was probably the nicest interaction I had with that particular DS during basic. Also, so basically the next morning you had to do lunges as you made your way over to where they sat, which was probably a good 50 yrds and then do lunges back while holding the rifle above your head. Fun fun, luckily I never had to do it. I have another story involving weapons, basic training, and being told I did good if anyones interested and i actually remember to check to see if I get any replys 😅.
