The BRUTAL Execution Of Henry VIII’s Irish Enemy

During the Tudor Period, to oppose King Henry VIII and his rule was incredibly dangerous. Those who rose up against the King and his decisions and policies often resulted in the bloody executions of those brave enough to resist. Henry VIII would order the executions of some of his closest friends and advisors, and would not hesitate to sentence his enemies to death. One man who met a horrific end at Tyburn being hanged, drawn and quartered in front of a huge crowd was Thomas Fitzgerald, the 10th Earl of Kildare, also known as Silken Thomas. But what led to his brutal execution in London?

Tudor England was merciless, expecting clemency from Henry Viii? Who slaughtered his own wives, the mother of his child. Now i can see where game of thrones was derived from.

The Fitzgeralds where ultimately restored to their inheritence in large part to Lady Greys influence on Henry. Ultkmately the Fitzgeralds became one of Irelands wealtiest families. The Fitzgeralds "City House" is now the house of parliment in Dublin. Interestingly Lady Grey who was Thomas's step mum and favourite of Henry, organised Irish clans to have her son and only Fitzgerald heir whisked off to France. Her brother the Lord Deputy of Ireland Leonard Grey who put down Thomas Fitzgeralds rebellion was also executed as it was suspected he allowed the heir to escape. Henry was a Tyrant and comforting its comforting to know he ultimately died a horrific death from a multitude of diseases caused by his ridiculous lifestyle.

The source says he wasn’t quartered and then you say he was. ‘Interestingly’ indeed!
