In this online panel, part of the American Society for Environmental History’s Environmental History Week in 2021, university press editors demystify the publishing process, from preparing a book proposal to partnering with your press to promote the book. Along the way, they also shed light on how presses select books, what kind of editorial support to expect from a publisher, the value of peer review, practices around equity and inclusion in history publishing, how to avoid common mistakes in manuscript preparation, and how to think about positioning environmental history for a broader audience. Includes Q&A.

Neecole Bostick, Editorial Assistant, University of Washington Press
Brian Halley, Senior Editor, University of Massachusetts Press
