What is Disease X? | THE BIG STORY

In Parliament yesterday (Sept 2), Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said Covid-19 will not be Singapore's last public health crisis, and the country can apply lessons it has learnt in managing this disease to prepare for future pandemics. He noted that scientists talk about Disease X - a new unknown disease that is highly infectious, deadly and mutates easily - being overdue. When Covid-19 started to spread around the world, PM Lee said people asked if Disease X had arrived.

NASA says that we are overdue for asteriod strike on earth, USGS says some countries are overdue for major earthquake.... now we are overdue for a disease named X! All 3 disasters prompts anti social behaviours like hoarding of food and essentials, shops and offices closed because we are afraid to go out to work or simply prefer not to go out to work because some of us don' t want to see our bosses' face. Common sense says you can't prevent injuries from an earthquake by squating on the ground with your arms covering your head during an earthquake drill. You can't depend on NASA to tell you if your house is targeted by an asteriod! Disease X? Only the one true God can give you the antidote! Our faith in God is what's keeping this virus under control not the 1 metre distancing, not the masks, not spraying of disinfectant on roads or on people like what you see in other countries.
