Показать описание
This week is a double Torah portion covering both Torah Parsha Matot as well as Torah Parsha Massei…
Matot (מַּטּוֹת)— Hebrew for “tribes”, Matot is the fifth word in the parashah. It is the 42nd weekly Torah portion (a number that later will prove significant) and covers Numbers 30:2–32:42.
Parsha Matot contains 1 positive mitzvah and one prohibition… The positive mitzvah is the law of annulling a vow in numbers 30:3 the prohibition Is that we should not break a vow in the first place. Yeshua told us it is better to not make a vow then too possibly break a vow.
Mas’ei (מַסְעֵי) — Hebrew for “journeys,” and covers Numbers 33:1–36:13. Covering 2 positive mitzvot an d 4 prohibitions. The parashah discusses the 42 stops and stages of the Israelites’ journeys, and also covers instructions for taking the land of Israel, cities for the Levites and refuge, and the daughters of Zelophehad.
Put Matot and Mas’ei together, and you get “tribes journeys” – bringing our focus on our people’s journey from slavery to a righteous nation ready to enter the Promised land! Our Torah parashah recounds 42 different places where Israel stopped and learned different spiritual lessons, and in fact there are 42 parallel aspects to our spiritual journey as well! Come on a journey of learning Torah with us and be blessed!
