PROTONA MINIFON P55 WIRE RECORDER from 1955, made in Germany.

One of the earliest spy tape recorders, it is compact and can be hidden in the inside pocket of an overcoat.

This example is incredibly rare as it is still in good working condition. Thanks to a colleague who made an audio adapter and battery adapter for it, this can be used with any microphone and played through any sound system.

Why do you need batteries *and* a power transformer? Is the power transformer only for the 12 V (motor I assume), so you still need the 30 V and 1.5 V for the valves?

I saw no attempt to adjust recording level in the second recording. Does it have an auto level?
