CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Beldar's boss (Sinbad) finds out that he doesn't have a Social Security Number and is an illegal alien.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
"The Coneheads" were a sketch on the Saturday Night Live television show of the late '70s which were expanded to feature-length proportions with this film. The story concerns Beldar (Dan Aykroyd) and Prymaat (Jane Curtin), who leave the planet Remulak to prepare for an invasion of Planet Earth. But due to a malfunction, they find themselves plunged into the Hudson River and forced to take up residence in Paramus, New Jersey where Beldar gets work as an appliance salesman and makes a deal for a phony social security card. Before long, all thoughts of invading Earth are left behind as Beldar and Prymaat quickly adapt to suburban life -- except for their coneheads and metallic-sounding voices, they become a typical middle-class suburban family. The Coneheads have a child, Connie (Michelle Burke) and Beldar becomes a New York cab driver and starts up his own driving school. Connie grows into a teenager and a neighborhood boy, Ronnie (Chris Farley), develops a crush on her because he likes to rub her conehead. But a nefarious INS agent, Gorman Seedling (Michael McKean), and his toady assistant, Turnbull (David Spade), are hot on The Coneheads' trail because of Beldar's false social security card. Not only that, but the Remulakian Highmaster (Dave Thomas) is beginning to wonder what ever happened to Beldar's invasion of the third rock from the sun.

He looks so innocent and child like when he says, "But what could be more important than planetary conquest?"

Like the subtle light placement on akroyds face when he turns around, like hes a deer in the headlights. Nice little touch by the filmmakers

$8, 000 in a week, and he gives Beldar 1200. Say Beldar worked a 40 hour work week. That means he was getting $30 USD an hour, which for 1993 is pretty good for someone with no prior earth experience. In 92-93, the average salary in a metro area was roughly 27, 000 USD. At 30 an hour, Beldar would be making 58, 500 yearly in 1993. Which means that if Beldar made this amount of money regularly, he would be making almost 100% more than a new graduate with an Engineering Degree in 1993.

I love how no one addresses the coneheads appearance the entire movie

I love this damn movie. It’s one of the few times full movie versions of SNL skits worked for them. I believe this one, The Blues Brothers, and Wayne’s World, are the only films that did well. Then again, those other two are classics as well. I kinda wish they did a movie about the Spartan Cheerleaders. What an era.

Beldar’s boss was a reasonably decent dude. Considering he had little to no experience in the proper exchange of work vs payment, him giving Beldar a nearly 7% cut of the gross profits was pretty fair.

I love how their response is to give him a dead man's number. Must be a fun time at the SS office when they see it in use after how many years.

Like, "How's it been bro? How was heaven/hell? You need some lettuce? Good on you."
