I still can't forgive Unalaq for destroying Korra's past lives.

My biggest problem with her was that she was selfish, immature, arrogant, reckless, etc. I understand she’s kinda meant to be the opposite of Aang but she just wasn’t likable imo. She seemed to put the blame on others instead of reflecting and considering she did something wrong

Blame nickelodeon for the shortcomings. The og creators didnt suddenly forget how to develop a plot. Also Korra was designed to be a different show than Avatar.

She didn’t destroy the cycle, her uncle did

Her needing to rely on other people? BRo, Aang relied on his friends as well to help him win fights

She went on a date with a guy who liked her then immediately afterward forced herself on his brother. A brother she knew deeply cared for his sibling and was in a relationship. If her name wasn’t in the title, Mako and Bolin should have immediately ghosted her for that behavior.

Even the creators regetted rushing each season, each is it's own story. It's not like one main ongoing problem but a bunch of different problems which season 😢

Korra also had it rough. She had it easy most of her life then moved to republic city and got practically all her bending taken away. Got the avatar spirit beaten out of her and was poisoned with lead and mercury. She nearly got blasted to bits in season 4 and korrasami was a little bit forced but still good.

The funny thing is that the Equalist movement just completely disappeared. People no longer wanted equality because the leader did an oopsie. Nobody took up the mantle. Like seriously? When has that ever happened?
The dip in writing between the two shows made a lot more sense when I saw on IMDb that a lot of people who helped write The Last Airbender just left when Korra came. But DiMartino and the other dude took all the credit.

To The mfs who keep comparing Korra to Aang know this, there is a Reason why everyone likes and Respect Aang more, and it's not because of Nostagia.
where Korra is the total opposite, Learn how to make a Gosh Darn good and likeable Character and then nobody will dislike that character, it is that simple! 🤷‍♂️

In defense of number 3 all of her enemies were advanced and she was able to hold up 3 of the red lotus while poisoned

She was the avatar before she was a person. so instead of a hero’s journey like Anng, we got a story of personality growth that is way harder to get into. Mainly because she didn’t learn from her mistakes for a long time and back tracked a lot. Like a lot a lot.

Honestly... All of these went either unnoticed to me or are pros not cons. It all sounds rather forced than actual problems to me lol

My only problem with Korra not making sense is that she starts as a child being able to bend all elements. It just frankly doesn’t make sense, no bender regardless of their skill or innate talent can do bending that naturally.
Even katara arguably one of the strongest water benders could only access her bending by sheer accident or through learning, she was then trained and taught bending.
Same with every avatar since the beginning of the avatar cycle. It’s like they were trying to make a Mary sue character which turned me off pretty hard. Her overall storyline is okay, everything else was kinda mid. I liked the spiritual aspect but other than that it really wasn’t my cup of tea, but I can still respect it.

Personally it just never hit the same spots that Atla did, so while it’s fine for what it is and the things it does are kinda hit and miss for me, I still can’t ever love it the same as I do atla.
Mad respect but it ain’t for me

It was unfair for her, I remember people hating on her before the show started just because of her more muscular physique. It was pretty similar to what happened to Abby in TLOU. Females always get harshly criticized based on appearance alone.

By that logic, Aang destroyed the Avatar cycle before Katara brought him back

TLOK is not for me, like this guy said Korrasami was so forced it literally came out of nowhere and she is just such an unlikable person, I also feel like they did Mako dirty because everybody ends up with somebody except Mako. Korra is not MC material and I do not recommend this show.

Stop ✋ hating on Korra! I have respect for Korra, even though she does mess up, I still don't hate Korra. I think Korra just needed to find a better solution to stop her uncle Unalaq before he became a dark Avatar. And no, Korra did not destroy the Avatar cycle. She just lost her connection to her past lives including Avatar Aang. You guys need to have some ding dang respect for Korra and stop 🛑 hating on her!

1. Korra did not, she was manipulated into that situation.

2. Korra is a master class of a deconstruction/reconstruction character.

The beginning of season four with Korra dealing PTSD was very, very well done.

3. The same argument can be made for Aang.

4. That was very well done, with a slow build up over the course of two seasons.

5. I guess you do not like Babylon Five either. Korra did a good job of having multiple plot lines and offering interesting character development with the main cast.

My reason is that she tries to use Bolin to make Mako jealous only to then kiss Mako in front of Bolin breaking his poor heart and him running away in tears😢
