1 dead, 1 injured during dog attack in Broward

A woman died and another woman was injured while working with an abandoned dog in Broward County.

We had to ban pit bulls at our rental properties. They can be perfectly calm and friendly. Then, without provocation at all, they snap attack. Can't hear the voices claiming they're good and it's how they're raised. We have had over 300 canine guests. Not one breed except pits have multiple attacks. I saw them all. Had to intervene once. Took the pit down, all weight on the rib cage. Choked him out pretty far. Got my arm out. Pretty tore up. But I was OK in a few weeks. I asked them to leave our rental. They did. Dog lived. Probably to kill another day if they didn't put him down.

I carry a knife when I walk my dog, can never trust a pit bull especially if it runs up on you.

My family rescued a dog and the night we brought her home, she took a chunk out of my moms hand. Safe to say, that was the last time we rescued an animal. Idc what anyone says, it’s safer to get a dog as a puppy and raise it yourself.

I understand these sorts of things are relatively rare, but when working with rescued animals with unknown backgrounds that have the potential to cause great harm or take a human life, I feel like they should have protocols and equipment in place to deal with this sort of thing.

That’s what happens when especially no kill shelters lie about a animals past to continue to make money from donations and it doesn’t effect their end of year percentage that could effect their non profit status instead of doing the right thing have proper educated staff licensed animal behaviorist sure volunteers are awesome and help a lot but the reality is someone has to be the voice of reason and sometimes the best thing is for a dangerous dog to be euthanized. Animal League of Green Valley AZ and dog attacks requiring a minimum of 1 day hospitalization have increased by a 139% since that facility opened. A almost four million dollar a year facility with zero professional staff pumping out recycled dangerous dogs from all over USA
