Best way is sleeping with a silk bonnet. It's a game changer. Gets rid of the frizz, adds shine and protects hair from the grease of your skin and sweat. Test it out Chris!

my favorite sleep hairstyle is twisting my hair into princess leia buns basically, with silk scrunchies (i also use a silk pillowcase). the buns curl my hair away from my face and the scrunchies are actually super cute. i could never do the popular top bun because my scalp hurts if the hair goes in a different direction like that.

I've followed your guidance on shampoo, leave in conditioner, hair oil, and blow dry cream, and it's changed my hair for the better, so I'm going to trust you on this, but I had stopped wearing my hair high when I was told it was causing my split ends. We'll see...

Can you have Leslie show how she makes a bun? When the hair is curled, the two sides of the head go in two different directions. How to put all the hair in a bun without twisting one side the opposite direction of the style?

What about those of us who have short hair? I have a bob so a bun isn't going to work out?

I am a 50 year old woman with shoulder length hair. In the last few years I’ve had to give up my flat iron because my hair was just too dry and damaged. I try straight styles but I LOVE curls. I now use hot rollers to style my hair on day 2 and 3…..which is very fine, very dry and very straight. I just trimmed all my damaged ends off and am trying to protect the mids in particular. I usually air dry and then I’ve been using Velcro rollers too for the first day. (Trying for less heat)…Second and third day, dry shampoo and I hot roller. I’m also trying Olaplex 3 and clarifying shampoo once a month as well as a cream leave in conditioner every wash and oil for mids to ends. I also do oil treatments before washing. 3 days is the max for me. Then wash day. After studying all your videos and Tik Toks, I think I need to:

1. Switch to professional shampoo and conditioner. I may switch and buy Olaplex 4, 5 and 7 on your advice!
2. Find a bettered heat protectant and a lighter leave in conditioner.
3. Buy the Harry Josh and use your blow dry tips after washing.
4. Velcro roll to cool and get body and shape.
5. Oil my ends/mids day 1, 2 and day 3.
5. Get a makeup wrap and terry cloth shower cap.
6. Wear my hair up loosely to bed.
7. Switch my dry shampoo to the one you suggested.

How does that sound?

I do have concerns that the Olaplex 3 is too heavy for me and maybe the Velcro rollers are causing breakage on my very fine dry mids? Is that possible or should I be patient?

If you were able to reply I’d really appreciate it!!

I really understand the way you explain things! I’m going to keep trying!

YOU ARE AMAZING!

I have noticed a huge difference in my hair since sleeping on a silk pillowcase. Maybe because my hair was so dry and damaged.

Hi, I know this is an older video but this has been something I have struggled with. My hair tends to be the weakest and break the most on the underside by my neck so I worry putting it in a bun will put more stress on this area of my har, I am actually not even sure that part of my hair is long enough to be put in a high bun without pulling it too tight due to the breakage. I don't really need my hair to hold a perfect style every day since I work from home but I would love to learn how to best protect that area of my hair so it can grow out a bit and stop breaking so much, I've been following your other tips for healthy hair and have noticed a difference, thank you!

I always put my hair in a high bun to sleep. My hair on the sides of my face always get super oily tho, especially over the ears or the back of the head where I slept on 😭

Hi Chris! I love you videos! Thanks for all the wisdom you are sharing! My hair is shoulder length so long enough for low pony but not for a high bun. I have straight hair but i use your method to get small curls ( i just bought the baby lis that you recommended) To keep my curls in place during the night what do you recommend?

So I just can’t seem to get my straight hair to not have some strange kinks in it after sleeping. What is less damaging- mist with water and blow dry to straighten or heat to straighten?

Chris, can you do a video about prepping hair for sleeping. I'm very confused about whether or not I can use leave-in conditioner before sleeping. My hair is frizzy. Otherwise, maybe worry about getting out the frizz in the morning?

Hi hi, I have short fine hair. Cut it due to bleach damage and post partum and thyroid hair loss.. trying to get it now to grow out thicker and healthier. When I sleep I do toss and turn (can't help it hehe) I can't tie it either as it's short. So silk pillow has been helping alot. BBut what are more tips for short hair as all I get are tips for long hair.

I totally tried sleeping with the bun on the top of my head last night and it was only half up when I woke up this morning. I sleep like an animal, bonnets fall off of my head… any ideas out there?

I have never used that kind of hairtie without it getting tangled in my hair when I try to take it out. It's like my hair gets pinched between the coils. Maybe I'll just try some different brands/sizes and see if I can get something to work because it would be so much simpler than other protective sleep styles.

I tell my customers to sleep careful and to be minimal on handling top of hairstyle. This confirmed my thoughts.
