OrcaTorch sent me their newest dive light, the Orca Torch D710 diving flashlight for this dive light review. It's a top rated dive light, so I'm going to have a look at it to find the best dive light for the money. What can I say - it's insanely bright, but also has a few downsides - at least for GUE-oriented divers. Still, it makes a very bright and overall, one of the best dive lights for easy recreational diving.

I use the D710 as my primary, but I’m just a rec diver diving mostly in the daytime. Took it to Catalina island with crystal clear water mid day and I could still see the beam underwater. Don’t know if it’s the best light ever, but it works for me.

In general, I think measuring the spot size would be a good addition to your testing. Love your videos!

I never had a rechargeable light, but would have love to have one. Less batteries in trash is a great development.

I own the ORCATORCH D570 2-in-1 Scuba Diving Safety Light with 1000 Lumens, and Green laser pointer, Underwater up to 150 Meters. I love it. I definitely recommend it. 👌🏼

What do you recommend for recreational? Use the best I really don’t wanna purchase another one for a while.

The engineer in me appreciates the quantitative view. They seem to continue the industry-wide trend of exaggerated lumens. (I suggest rounding to the nearest 1000 lux, though, as the additional digits were distracting.)

Ich nutze die D520. Die D520 lässt sich auch nur über den drehbaren Lampenkopf ein- und ausschalten. Bin bis jetzt super zufrieden damit und kann nichts negatives berichten!

friend, do you recommend the page to buy from Colombia ❓️

The first con that I noticed about this light after opening the box, is that they supply a cable that only charges one battery at a time. This is very inconvenient. Hopefully I can find a way to charge two at one time and even find extra batteries.

I don't mind if the button is concealed under some form of water protection. The thing is the area where the button is, is an area to watch out for esp when diving in salt water, as salt can accumulate around the button. I own an Orca Torch twist style, and I love it very much.

Hi Ben, can you review the new Orcatorch D580? It's a ~500 lm light that can work on 3xAAA batteries, which makes it a possible budget backup light which also fits the GUE standards

HI Ben ! I'm surprised that you choosed the D710 as a GUE diver, you should consider buying instead the D520 from orcatorch. A GREAT light, without any buttons, without booster circuit, really tought !
I use them 3 at the same time mounted on a goodman handle i make myself as they are really small. You can see "Alienlight" from Inner Space Explorers in youtube, I took the idea there.

I would invest and go with Tillytec. Quality made in Germany. I know many rec and tec divers that recommend this brand.

I use lithium in my back up lights. The technology is reliable. The danger is a lazy diver not making sure it is charged.

Without a polar diagram of the light it is pretty naiv to do calculate lumen and lux like you do

I’m on my second D710. First one went bad in less than 6 months and the second one will not turn off now. These are complete junk in my opinion! Steer clear.

No. Because it's a 3 modes light. So, it's annoying underwater.
