If you are fully vaccinated you are cleared to fly announced the CDC today. The new updated travel guidance comes as we mark the second Easter and Passover holidays spent in a pandemic and as the TSA reports a travel surge, more than a million passengers going through checkpoints for three weeks straight. According to the CDC fully vaccinated people can travel without putting themselves at serious risk, but the guidelines recommend continuing to wear masks and socially distance. People can travel within the US without getting tested or quarantining, but the agency is urging anyone entering the US from overseas to get tested 3 to 5 days after their return. Even though there’s a lower risk for infection, the agency is discouraging all nonessential travel, due to the rising number of infections in the US and globally driven by highly contagious variant strains.
Today in New Jersey another 3,972 cases and 26 deaths. The relaxed guidelines also coincide with an ease on gathering restrictions in the state. Outdoor gatherings up to 200 people are now allowed in time for the holiday weekend. Banquet halls and other indoor entertainment venues can also increase their capacities starting today. Health experts have been encouraging people to keep any celebrations to their immediate bubble.
