Hypatia was certainly brilliant and influential. But there were recognized women mathematicians before her. One comes to mind: Pythagoras's wife, Theano. She continued teaching after Pythagoras died. History certainly is murky, but some evidence points to her as the discoverer of the "golden mean", not her husband. Theano and her students were chased out of their homes in southern Italy (then part of Greece). Similar to Hypatia, political adversaries attacked and drove them out. Theano's life is even less clear than Hypatia's, but she certainly deserves credit for her work and her teaching.

Couple of things.
1) Astrolabe was never invented by Hypatia. It existed long before Napoleonic Hypatia's era. In fact it dates back to Hipparcus and Apollonius of Perga who invented it using Euclidean and Archimedean Geometry and astronomy.
2) Hypatia's tragic death is purely a political deal and then existed social upheavals. It has nothing to do with Christian Community or their belief for Hypatia herself was a follower of Napoleonic view which intellectually cohabited with Judeo-christian world view

A time when Romans thought of war. Greeks thought of philosophy in Alexandria, they thought of thought itself.
There is also one other woman who is even greater than Hypatia in Alexandria, Egypt.

In the beginning... God created the Earth, and in the light blue waters, put a small ship to travel forever, in order not only to give birth but also to transfer great ideas all over the world ...
He called that ship...HELLAS! 🐬
