Keel OFF Sailboat Refit on 54ft Jeanneau

Im starting my second refit on the boat so im making a few videos for it.

Good job you chose Ionian yard and not Cleopatra. There workers don’t have a clue.
Great job Andy. Our keel bolts are 32 years old, encapsulated, and impossible to get to all of them! ⛵️👍
As your sand blasting the hull, did you not think of Coppercoat? We are super happy with our Coppercoat, now we only need to lift every 4 years.

Why did the mast have to come down as a prerequisite to removing the keel?

The boat was probably grounded sometime in the past with that broken fiberglass on the keel block. Nothing to protect the keel or rudder on that boat. Not a great blue water boat.

I wouldn’t recommend stainless studs for your keel if it is cast iron. You are going to have a dis similar metal problem and you will have a corrosion problem

New Subscriber... :Love what you are doing! -- QUESTION -- How thick is the hull at the keel bolt locations that the keel is accepted to? Really nice setup and trying to get a feel for how thick this hull is. The newer ones are very very thin but yours looks more solid.
