Should have done a slow test run to see what is out there. I ride on lakes a lot and if I do a speed run I always go over the area first to check for snow drifts, ice heaves, pressure ridges and anything else that can throw you to the moon

You should always survey before you race. Takes 5 to 10 minutes to look over where u are headed whether it's a field or a lake . I hope he or she is alright though.

Hope the guys are OK but, that seems kinda dumb. Racing in a place your not familiar with is never a good idea. At least take a slow line through it and check for possible hazards

Had a guy die on the property of a family member for this exact reason messing around in unfamiliar areas. Better safe then sorry it never hurts to take a slow lap first
