I wish he lived long enough to see Harvey in Jail and Bong Joon Ho win an academy award. He would've been ecstatic!

And this was John Hurt being diplomatic. Christ, imagine what he really thinks of him!

John Hurt was such a badass, even up to the very end.

This was the most polite tear down I've ever seen. It had all the savagery of a fuck you and the grace and elegance of a poet.

It’s rare to see a celebrity speaking so candidly on a red carpet. Kudos, John Hurt and RIP.

John was an absolute treasure and the world has been poorer since his passing.

Also, props to the interviewer for asking some thoughtful and respectful questions - an actor slating a studio like this is a bit of a scoop and he didn’t make it trashy, just gave Hurt his say. Respect.

'There is a rumour that when Harvey Weinstein was charged with handling the US release of Princess Mononoke, Miyazaki sent him a samurai sword in the post. Attached to the blade was a stark message: "No cuts."

The director chortles. "Actually, my producer did that. Although I did go to New York to meet this man, this Harvey Weinstein, and I was bombarded with this aggressive attack, all these demands for cuts." He smiles. "I defeated him."' - From The Guardian

Harvey just had to put his hands over everything didn't he?

Man, i miss John Hurt. I met him at a comicon once and he was the nicest dude. Really took his time to make sure to talk to everyone one to one.

I met John in a hotel bar. He was very charming - even when somebody rudely interrupted him to introduce themselves and tell him they'd written him a part in their short film. John tried to very politely decline, by saying he's nowhere near handsome enough to play that historical figure. The aspiring filmmaker didn't give up though. Hurt politely held his ground but never got ratty with the guy, even though IMO he'd have been well within his rights to.

He would have made a great replacement for Dumbledore after Harris passed away. The deep voice, the sense and appearance of calm even when conveying strong emotions, and just a general way he carries himself would’ve been a perfect fit.

I rarely cry watching a movie, but John Hurt in The Elephant Man when he was talking to Anne Bancroft's character about his mother and how tried his best to be good for her brought me to tears.

He used to be a regular at my local pub The Haverstock Arms in Belsize Park, North London. Usually very merry.

John Hurt has an incredible filmography, I wish I could have asked him about his experience with Ralph Bakshi...

It almost brought me to tears seeing him support another artist like this.

I remember reading an article about that particular shortened cut of the movie. Supposedly it was supposed to cut all scenes which were philosophical and extended the discussion about class differences through types of trains, making it a cheap dystopian action movie. Understandable, why he shows disdain for the editing. He was the main actor in George Orwell's 1984 movie adaptation and would stand against censorship anytime.

It’s such a shame that Weinstein is still alive while John hurt is gone. Such an immense loss of talent. R.I.P. to an amazing man. Weinstein just loved to destroy films. And people. Thank his he’s rotting in prison. May he burn in hell.

2020 may have been a shitty year but when Bong Joon Ho becomes a legend and Harvey Weinstein becomes a prison inmate number, it had it's better moments.
