I love hand sanding, I can watch other people do it for hours.
Mostly because i moved on from the complaint stage and I'm now well into resignation that it just needs to be done on some types of knives

Sandpaper used to be weak and using files is an easy way to tear through sandpaper and scratch your knife. I know from personal experience. Roll the sandpaper around the file several times to reduce the risk of break the sand paper.

Personally, I find hand sanding to be relaxing. It's very "zen" for me.

...Or maybe I'm a masochist. I don't know.
