We've talked about lung anatomy before but some students tell me they find it hard to recognise the 3D shapes of the lungs. Let's briefly look at that and how these shapes relate to the shape of the thorax.

As a wind player I always teach 3-dimensionally because it's great to think in the round. Visualising is important for artists as well as for performing Hatha yoga breathing exercises. On the other hand, smoking isn't a good idea, apparently. Strange that, eh? The internal combustion engine also contributes to lung content. Clever sapiens, eh?
