In this tutorial I am demonstrating proper paint consistencies for various techniques. No more trying to figuring out what warm honey looks like. I'll explain the best consistencies for a straight pour, ring pour, dutch pour, flip cup, palette knife painting, landscapes, swipes and more.

Great video Gina! So helpful to be able to see the differences in consistency next to each other!
Personally I like fat paint lol I'm a 4 or a 5 girl for consistency 😂 I do add Liquitex Gloss Medium & Varnish to my paint and Floetrol though. I like the dried finish of the pouring medium, and I love the fact that I don't have to varnish it afterwards unless I want to. I find I can still get cells by stretching the paint a lot.. Interestingly, my last few bottles of Floetrol have been super thin.. so to maintain the consistency that I like I've been adding it just a little at a time instead of my normal measured amount (so that's another variable in the equation, Floetrol consistency).
Btw.. *your* happy accident led you down a path.. I LOVED that path! It was so exciting watching you, thinking about the science and formulas and consistencies (I was a mad scientist lol).. and then I finally did it myself and it was amazing... literally life changing. Thank you for opening up those doors and for sharing your art with us.. you are one of a kind Gina! ❤️

The BEST consistency video ever. Love that you used a color where you can really see the consistency. Also liked that you explained for each consistency which technique it can be used for! Thank you so much. I appreciate you taking the time to teach newbie’s like me.

Gina, you were one of the first artists I watched, and I have come to love this style of art....so thank you. The consistency problem is something I have struggled with too, but your video Along with Tammy Anderson's video (on mixing all colours first, adding floetrol, at ratio of 1:2, then matching all colours to the thinnest paint consistency) have added a wealth of knowledge and at the same time simplicity in solving this issue. A thousand thank yous. Hope your music is going well for you. 😁💐

Thank you so much for this! I have been so confused on consistency, what it means and different consistencies for different techniques. It’s all here, so I made notes. Great close ups of each cup so I can see what it looks like. This morning I did the best I have done in 3 months since I began. HopeI am on a roll. 🤞

I appreciate this so much and wasted so much paint starting out because I wasn’t getting it thin enough. “Warm honey, motor oil, etc” really doesn’t seem thin enough to me and like you I don’t heat my honey up! Your videos are the best!
