In the 2019 Global Health Security Index, the USA was the best prepared country for a national health emergency (pandemic) than all other countries surveyed. In addition, the US had similiar national contingency plans passed from one administration to the next. So, what went so horribbly wrong in Covid-19 pandemic where the US has the worst responce even compared to many "3rd World Countries?" In my opinion, it's bcause of the inexplicable failure of the federal government to respond to the crisis from the beginning, coupled with untethered misinformation from the president of the US. All Donald Trump had to do was request the plans be put into effect as soon as the first case was confirmed in the US in Janurary 2020. All he had to do was let the experts do what they'd been educated and trained to do. That is not what happened and look at us now!
