Ua Mau

Project KULEANA and itʻs Nā Moʻo youth cohort programs are honored to share Dennis Pavaoʻs Ua Mau. Nā Moʻo youth were responsible for envisioning, planning and co-producing this mele. Mahalo a nui loa to the artists, ʻohana, staff and supporters who helped to cherish, honor and celebrate the different singers, songs and stories which shape our culture and perspective of who we are as Hawaiʻi. "Ua mau ke ea o ka ʻāina i nā ʻōpio!" Ola!

This reminds me of how we grew up surrounded with family and traditions now all my family is spread out or dead so is the traditions it makes me sad living in Hawaii is a struggle these days but i wont leave my people or my home

Those who know that this song was written for (and partially by) ADAM PUAKAILIMA HOLBRON. It is always a moving memory to hear this song and remember the exact time of it's inception in a small kitchen in Wai'anae Valley. Many moons ago, but still so very vivid and powerful.
