Unlike on a square grid, the knight in hexagonal chess can actually triangulate / lose a tempo, since it can move to any of the two other colors instead of having to change parity every move.

It works as one space diagonally plus one space straight. .. And it will always land on a space of the opposite color, or in this case one of the other colors.

I actually think the six spaces inward-adjacent to two of the twelve reachable spaces should also be reachable, since they can technically also be reached by moving two steps in one direction and then one step in another.

Incorrect they can technically go one diagonal also by going up to over one but as that lower over

Wrong because knights are the only pieces that can’t loose tempo because when they are on a light square they can only move in a dark square and viceversa
