People left this market because they can't afford it.

Remember when cars like this used to be affordable?

The dealer mark ups are really ruining it for a lot of ppl. I can afford to buy one but I absolutely refuse to pay +55k for a Civic Type R. Smh

Manufacturers: "This car is selling as fast as we can make them."
Also manufacturers: "Let's limit the amount of our very popular model just because."

As a Golf R owner, I also factored in how much the car settles down and becomes comfortable in comfort mode with the adjustable shocks- essentially gives you the dynamics of two vehicles in one. After working stressful 12-16 hour shifts, sometimes you just want the car to take care of you when it's not lighting your hair on fire. The AWD was also very important for my geographic location (untreated icy roads with hills)

The prices of these pushed me into the arms of a Camaro SS 1LE.
Different animal, but great driving experience.
Neighborhood kids love hearing the obnoxious exhaust, too!

The missing engine cover is because they were recalled for coming loose and potentially causing a fire. thought they would of had plastic covers figured out by now lol

Can confirm the crazy markups. Went into my local Honda in SF to try and order the FL5 Type R and they quoted $64, 999 before tax, title, and registration ($20k markup over MSRP). Had the exact same experience with the FK8. After I failed to get an FK8, I traded my Accord for a Golf R (Got one for $3k UNDER MSRP from Mission Bay VW) and since then bought/sold 3 other new cars from VW. The Type R was my dream car since I was young but the dealer experience killed my interest and my loyalty to the brand.

I love hot hatches. Sadly, it's really only possible to buy a hatch nowadays. Maybe a comparison of the more "basic" hatch models? Like the Civic sport and GTI? Still fun for most at a more reasonable price.

Definitely Motortrend TV stuff, but glad it is a YT video and not hampered by the 21 minutes, whatever seconds and 12 frames. Very thorough and enjoyable video. Thanks.

It's amazing that the tiny 3 cylinder engine in the GR Corolla makes the exact hp and torque numbers as an early 90's Nissan 300zx v6 twin turbo.

32k for an sti in 2004 is 47k today. The difference to me is that when usdm evo and sti came out they were almost as fast as contemporary sports cars. These cars arnt a whole lot faster 20 years later
