For those of us who grew up in the 80s and 90s going to school dances, power ballads hold a special and nostalgic place in our hearts.

I'll forever miss this era. Everything about it. And let other generations laugh about the hair or clothes, ...but wow could our boys Absolute talent. And I'm so glad I got to be a part of the best era ever.

The next hit from Europe that I remember listening to everyday in 1987-88 on the local rock station was "Superstitious". I still love that song and I know you will enjoy it as well.

Next up for Europe should be "Cherokee". It's a banger

I'm a boomer, and I'm 100% adoring how genuine you both are. Great vibe, great groove, loving souls! For 50 years, I've enjoyed picking apart a song that introduced me to counter-melodies and surprising instrumental backgrounds, and every time I hear it I notice something new. I think you might enjoy "Stone Believer" by Iron Butterfly. (Album version, not live)

Of course, "The Final Countdown" is my favorite. It's only been a YEAR since you've done this band. This is a power ballad. Check out their other songs: "Cherokee" "Rock The Night" "Open Your Heart" "Let The Good Times Rock" "I'll Cry For You" "Superstitious" "Prisoners In Paradise" "Tomorrow" "Screams Of Anger" "More Than Meets The Eye" "Time Has Come" "Sign Of The Times" "Dreamer" "Heart Of Stone" and more!

Oh man! I love this song so much. It came out in 1986 and I was 16. I was at a party and there was this guy there who looked and dressed EXACTLY like Joey Tempest. My gosh he was SO handsome. He came up to me and we started talking the rest of that night. We crashed there and woke up laying next to each other on the couch. It was so amazing.

Sweden's contribution to glam/hair metal. Though most know Europe for "The Final Countdown", THIS was actually their highest charting hit. If you go further down this road, you might also check out "Rock the Night" and "Superstitious" (no, NOT a cover of the Stevie Wonder song). The lead singer's name is Joey Tempest (Real name: Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson, which IMHO is even cooler).

Every Rock n Roll Band in the 70's and 80's had Power Ballads to get the Girls! No matter how Rockn they were!

When this song was out, another monster song was " Don't treat me bad" by Firehouse... This was a great era for many of us.

Europe today consists of the classic 1984-86 lineup that played on 1986's "The final countdown" album that this song, "Carrie", is from. In this video, lead guitarrist, John Norum, had just been replaced by Kee Marcello; who isn't in the band now as Norum has returned. But Joey has been the singer of the band all along, and remains so today.

This one was actually co-written with keyboardist Mic Michaeli. Joey said his inspiration was actually the Stephen King movie of the same name. Lead guitarist John Norum came out with a new solo album just this week. The first single is “Sail On” that’s one you should check out for sure. These guys are still rocking out with John Norum returning on lead guitar, Ian Haugland on drums, Mic Michaeli on keyboards and John Leven on bass. Tons of great songs. An acoustic version and video were made of “Walk the Earth” with them donating money from each view and share of the video going to COVID research-another one to check out!
