She's done!
We finished hooking up and testing the entire harness, fixed bugs and then.... we disconnected and pulled out the harness to wrap it. After it got wrapped we routed it permanently, plugged everything in and did a final test. She is good to go

Elin, when I added hazard flashers to my TR4A, I used a hazard switch for a “Ferguson” tractor (S43495). This switch was recommended by some folks on the Triumph Registry forum in the UK. I bought mine from eBay. It’s a 7 terminal switch. It has a black pull/push knob that has a red plastic center (with the universal hazard “triangle”), that also flashes. It works very well. I realize this info is a little late for the TR3, but perhaps it will be useful for others. 👍

Wrapping it up, eh? I like that. This level of detail and care is unique. Thanks for all the efforts you make to share this with us, Elin!

Some of that was off the scale on difficulty level, but as always you find a way and get it done. Great video Elin. Many thanks.

You can get round the green volt gauge illumination by dismantling the unit, removing the rivets and taking out the green plastic dome from inside. I had to do this on our Midget 1500 after intalling a late type TR6 oil pressure gauge, the only one that matched the other gauges.

It’s very helpful to see this level of detail. Thank you.

Amazing work! You’re the master at wiring. 🍻

A little off topic but: When you checked to see if the car was in neutral before you used the button on the solenoid to start the engine reminded me of when I was 17 (now 77): I was working on my TR3A in my Mom's garage. I pressed the solenoid button and was immediately driven back against the garage wall! Only the space between the studs of the unsheathed wall saved me from probably breaking both legs.

You didn’t notice that the fuel gauge wasn’t working when the car was started in the final test. Was the reversal of the polarity done after that but the video was out of sequence?

I had a USB socket that even had a blue LED in it on the unswitched purple circuit in my TR6. The car sat for a week or two many times and the battery was never impacted. I've since moved it to the switched circuit, but I never had a rundown problem.

LOL! I've rewired a few British cars. My comment was tongue in cheek.

Elon, a thin rubber gasket on the center panel will help hide any shrinkage in the future! The voltmeter can be opened and the green filter removed.

The accessory outlets on our Toyotas and Hondas are only powered on with the ignition

Would you suggest using ferrules (rather than just the bare wires) where there are screw connections on some gauges and switches on the dash?

Phew! That was epic. I’d love to be able to do this, but colorblindness has always made it impossible and scary for me. I think most car enthusiasts find wiring the most unpleasant aspect of ownership and restoration, so it’s great to see someone so obviously at home with it. Did the horn work? (The only thing you didn’t do a final check on! 🙂).
