I had NASH but I got so sick I was on a waiting list for 7 years and finally got a new live 4 months ago. Please if anyone reads this listen to your doctor when he tells you that you have a fatty liver and change the way you eat.

What’s more disturbing is that most people don’t know they have it until it’s too late

I feel like in all of these stories these are older patients, I am 23 and was just recently diagnosed with NASH and it would be nice to have people my age to relate to.

I have been researching about this same issue as my GI thinks this is what my condition is . After having consistently high liver enzymes ( no I don't drink alcohol either but I have always had high cholesterol even though I have tried to control with diet and be on statins ) I am scheduled for an endoscopy and colonoscopy in a couple days and then a liver biopsy as well . Thank for posting, it sure helps us get a better understanding of this condition from a patient's perspective.

amazing. When she says it got better, how much. better? As in, did the scar tissue reverse to an earlier stage of fibrosis, or is it still cirrhosis?

Cirrhosis scars probably do not go away but the fat can leave your liver. You do have to take it very seriously. Many doctors downplay liver disease, especially if you're not an alcoholic. Join an online group to learn what you need to help yourself if your doctors aren't forthcoming. See a liver specialist. General practitioners missed my liver disease and cancer.

On the 26th of February, I had a CT scan of my abdomen because of pain in my lower right side that had been there for about a month. I see my doctor every three months (this was Feb.22nd) for my diabetes and I figured I would ask about the pain while I was there. I do not take any meds for the diabetes and it's been staying fairly steady at 110-130, with an A1C of 5.3-7. The report stated that I have an enlarged liver, severe fatty liver disease, an enlarged spleen, and that my pancreas is atrophying. My doctor told me I needed to see a gastroenterologist. I had to call my PCP a few days later (March 10) to get a script refilled and asked if I was supposed to call the gastro or if they were going to do it. They said they had faxed stuff to him on the 8th of March and this was the 10th. I called the gastro just to see if they had gotten the request and the receptionist sounded a little snotty when she told me that "if they just sent the info on the 8th it's gonna be at least a month or 2 before we even call you." Today is the 3rd of April and I still haven't heard from them so I don't know if I should try to find a different gastro or keep waiting. How much worse can this get if I don't see someone for another couple of months? This video kinda scared me about my own problem.

My best friend has 26% liver function from NASH too..and from what I understand, NASH is Non Alcoholic, liver disease..a sort of fatty liver disease.

I just had a fibroscan Monday and was told my result is 17.2 that puts me in the cirrhosis category. The fat content number also puts me S3 in NASH. NO ONE, has been available to talk to about this and I’ve been calling everyday. There is so much conflicting information out there as to how I should eat, whether to cut carbs completely or if healthy carbs should still be included. The doctor says my referral was put in over 6 months ago, and I’m still waiting to see a consultant. I need help, why is the dietary info so different, even amongst doctors?

I’m confused why she says NASH stage 4. I was diagnosed with NASH today and at worst early compensates cirrhosis. I will have a biopsy. I’ve already lost 21 lbs and working hard. He seemed to think I could reverse or at least halt progression. She is confusing me. Mines non alcoholic obviously. Isn’t it NASH or not NASH. Cirrhosis or not? How is it both? I get she went from stage 3 NASH into stage 4 that’s cirrhosis but combining doesn’t make sense

It's very true and follow strict diet plus regular exercise. You might still have a little chance the liver will recover from a few good cells.

I'm soon to be 60yrs of age next month I'm a diabetic have been since 2004 . 3-4 years ago saw a doctor in Fresno about my liver and he said I had NASH. Didn't know what it was thought just a fatty liver from all the medications I am taking but had a blotted upper stomach. Dealing with Diabetes type 2 doing 5 shots a day taking pills also I have been dealing with my numbers to come down an they are decreasing my insulin is also a factor too so happy about that. I also have CREST Syndrome which no cure is found yet and that puts stress on me and now with NASH . I try to do as much as I can to be healthy my doctors have cut back on my medications also but so much for me to take in again and yes I worry.. if anything is out there for the NASH but not pill form to help my liver I would look into it.. the exercises for me is a bit painful even walking so have to use a cane but will try again but slowly. I don't drink tried one month ago body did not like so none for me. I take my health seriously I would like to live a stress free life enjoy my grandkids and be healthy with no worries..
