Update 04/2017. We have looked for a manual 9000 parts car for the past 6 months, or just the manual transmission from a 9000, but all have been automatics. The only manual transmission we found was from a later 9-5.

I got a red 1995 9000 aero from the scrap yard about to get crushed, paid $250, gearbox is good, gave it a good buff, looks a million bucks

You can simply reprogram the auto air blower by setting the blower to your desired setting and holding the “auto” button until you hear a beep. This works on most Saabs!

If the linkage is not out of adjustment or excessively loose, sounds like you need a trans like you said. Adjustment procedure: Loosen the linkage clamp. Put the transmission in 4th by pulling straight back on the linkage/rod. There is a hole in the top of the case that allows you to use a screw driver or a drill bit to lock the rod in 4th gear (use something that won't fall completely inside). Remove the wooden bezel around the shifter, and use a similarly sized bit to set the shifter in 4th. Tighten clamp and ensure there is no slippage.

Climate control setting is user-programmable. Procedure is in the owner's manual if you still have it.

Red paint might not have clear coat from factory. Could be wrong

Good luck on the project 9000. Having been driving a 1996 Saab 9000 aero daily for the last year and a half, they are excellent cars, and a great tourer. Check to make sure your cabin temperature sensor is working correctly. it's located to the right of the steering column. It is indeed a fan that draws in air over a set of coils. If that goes bad then your car will blow maximum air and the auto feature won't work. You can also run diagnostics on the ACC buy pressing the Auto and bottom right button on the unit. If there is a issue, a code will be shown on the hexadecimal screen on the ACC.

That's not just an 9000. That's a 9000 AERO, would look into what these cars can do with very little money.

Just saw this now, being posted in 2016... but this WAS no ordinary 9000, but a manual 9000 AERO. Hope she went to a good home.

I owned a SAAB 9000 from 1996 and had this happen to me. What had happened was the cylinder for the transmission had gone bad and started leaking, until I basically had no clutch left.

Could be the pre load collar on the output shaft has collapsed and not allowing to take it out of gear. You should be able to inspect clutch through the inspection cover

I'd bet the shift fork is broken off internally. Had an old Jeep with the exact same symptoms and thats what it was..

Hey any progress on the car. It's a nice model being a area 5spd. I have a 1993 9000 cse turbo 5 spd. It's fast so I bet the area would be even faster.

I just wanna through out there If you still have this, do it. The transmission is so easy on this car. Did mine in my driveway w broken Jack's and wood. Lol 2 piece subframe so you have so much room. Hope you still have it

I would follow NOBRAINZOO Advice on adjustment of linkage to the tee. Go for the slave cylinder & the hydraulic throw out bearing inside the trans making sure all is operating correctly also lookout for hydraulic line from cylinder to bearing is not ballooning. If all that checks out then it’s time for a rebuild or replacement . Rebuilding is going for 16-18 hundred bucks. Once everything is up to par replace that rubber bushing get a polyurethane bushing that’s as close to size shave it drill as close as possible and your getting a better feel on your shifting Lots of luck great car.

What happened with this 9000 in the meantime? Also, I am very curious about the 740i. Cheers.

It's likely a problem with the TCS system causing it to stall out. Join Saab 9000 owners on Facebook!
