How I got here…

21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job.
23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym).
24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations.
26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything.
26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time.
26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked.
27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months.
28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year.
29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months.
31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal.
31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it)
32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses.

Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos).

To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story.

You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win.

Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles.

Never quit,

Alex

*FULL DISCLOSURE*
I make content to make money - just - on a longer time horizon than most. I want to build trust with business owners so we can find the best ones and help them scale. And if they’re awesome, write them a check and go all the way as partners.

I feel like I have been matched with the smart guy in a class project that tried Red Bull for the first time. There is no excuse not to make it with all these amazing successful people sharing their thoughts.

Increasing your businesses "continuity factor":

- consumption
- collateral / "loss" when switching"
- Cost of Switching (money/time)
- Choice / minimising alternatives for your customers
- Controll of money flow
- (good) Cause (of your business/product)
- Community (within your business/product)
- enforceable contracts / minimum extend of contract

Dude Alex Hormozi, you read my mind our company was shifting into these pivots just of yesterday. GOLD GOLD GOLD. This was worth at least $10K for my business. Much respect. Our Channel will pivot into more of a community model. 3 Birds one stone.

As a SaaS business owner this is absolute gold. Cost of switching and collateral are by far the key areas you helped me realize I need to improve with my service. Keep the fire coming! 🔥

Perfect! I have been contemplating over the Cycle of Consumption v/s the Cycle of Purchase and how these are correlated. Understanding these "cycles" helps a lot with increasing the LTV. Absolutely awesome!

I just met a group of 80 ++ year old people traveling throughout so east Asia. We met at the Cambodian customs while we were all awaiting a stamp. I was on a bicycle, they were in a group. I asked ‘wow you guys are surely motivated… “ some of them were walking with help of a cane… one of them said “ we surely are not going to sit at home and watch Netflix”…. I know the point of this YouTube is different, but in fact the motivation and drive of these older people is the point. Sitting and watching makes revenues for others. I’m with Alex here to say… let the watchers create revenues for us, those who take the risk.

Hey Alex, my Son and I love to learn from you! Thank You So much for your education on YouTube. I'd like to give you one suggestion, to solve your video focus issue, switch your camera to a manual focus mode rather than the Auto Focus mode. If you don't have that option with your current camera, get a different camera. Keep up the great content, in the end I really just come for the lessons learned... Thanks again!

2 more C’s:

Compounding - Build once, serve 1, 000, as much as possible

Continously add/improve service - it should be virtually impossible for the customer to run out of service. Reduced rate extra
