No autotune. They actually sound better than many singers today.

They sounded so close to the guys that actually sang, great job and too bad they did not get the chance to redeem themselves...RIP Rob

He sounded great then. Rob just needed a little work, but he sounded good as supporting vocals too. One of pop music’s greatest tragedies.

Fab improved his voice and now sounds better than what was on the album. In fact, he was pretty good already . Rob passed before he could fix his voice and it’s obvious he was hired for his looks .

They really had musical talent. They can sing, they can dance, and they had charisma. The problem was that they were being made to sing American English songs when they at the time spoke very little English. Its their very prominent European (German and French) accents that made it sound a little off. Imagine what would happen if you made someone like Justin timberlake sing something in German. But America was where the money was at.

I think what any manager should do with a raw talent like this was to invest in a speech and singing coach so that they could nail the American English Lyrics better since they were doing RnB with a little bit of New Jack Swing. I think Frank really just wanted to make money a little too quickly and took advantage of two talents who were desperate for a break.

He had the tone...all he needed was some development. That producer was the catalyst to their demise...and poor Rob was only looking for a way to get from under a bad deal. Those people that took advantage of him were so evil.

Just make Fab the main singer with Rob on support vocals and more on dance moves and it would have been great.

They just had strong accents, their voices could have been used and them done right

Fab always sounded good. He sounds good nowadays as well. He performed Girl You Know It's True many times recently and he sounds really good in those performances. Never understood why they didn't give him the chance to sing...
Rob obviously lacked singing ability, but his voice wasn't too far from the "real" one. With training, he could've gotten even closer...

I can’t understand for the life of me why frank didn’t want them to use their real voices, I mean listen to them, they aren’t bad. I think they still would have made This song just as big using their real voices

See, what I would have done if I were the manager was immediately have these guys take vocals lessons after the first album was recorded by the other singers. On the second album, I'd bring back the original session singers from the first album, while also adding Rob and Fab's real voices into the mix. Basically having the real Milli Vanilli singers still involved, while slowly integrating Rob and Fab's actual voices in so that over time they could sing more and more...while slowly rotating the session singers out. That's what Frank Farian SHOULD have done if he wanted to be slick.

Rob would just need a little more voice training to get it pretty good but Fab already had it man!!!
