Camels’ milk is loaded with nutrients and readily available even in drought. It’s easy to see why pastoralist communities in Kenya’s north - where fresh fruits and vegetables are hard to come by - cherish the drink as medicinal. While butchering camels for meat only yields herders a one-time payout, milking the animals over time can promise repeated returns. CGTN Africa’s Daniel Plafker learns how this rapidly commercialising enterprise is providing income for Kenyan women and even tastes some camels’ milk for himself.
