dig and harvest bamboo shoots

Показать описание
When digging bamboo shoots with a hoe, the following points need to be noted, along with some techniques:
Precautions
- Protect the surrounding environment: Avoid excessive damage to the vegetation and soil around the bamboo. Do not randomly cut down small bamboo shoots or destroy the bamboo forest ecosystem.
- Pay attention to personal safety: Ensure that the handle of the hoe is firmly installed to prevent it from falling off and causing injury during use. Stand firmly while operating to maintain body balance and avoid slipping or falling. Also, observe whether there are other people or obstacles around to prevent the hoe from hitting others or objects when swinging.
- Identify the variety of bamboo shoots: Get to know the types of bamboo shoots in the local area to ensure that the ones being dug are edible varieties, and avoid mistakenly digging rare and protected varieties.
- Respect property rights: If you are in someone else's bamboo forest or a protected area, you must obtain permission first. It is strictly prohibited to dig privately.
Techniques
- Search for bamboo shoots: Bamboo shoots generally grow around bamboo trees, especially in the direction where the rhizomes extend. Places where the soil is slightly raised, loose, or has cracks are likely to have bamboo shoots.
- Insert the hoe correctly: After finding the bamboo shoot, insert the hoe into the soil from the side of the bamboo shoot, as close to the root of the bamboo shoot as possible, at an angle of about 45 degrees to the ground. This can better cut off the root of the bamboo shoot without damaging the shoot itself.
- Dig deep and pry gently: After inserting the hoe, dig a little deeper appropriately, and then gently pry to dig out the bamboo shoot with its root intact. Try to keep the bamboo shoot as complete as possible.
- Check the bamboo roots: After digging out the bamboo shoot, check whether the bamboo roots are damaged or if there are remaining bamboo shoot buds. If so, carefully cover the soil to protect the bamboo roots, which is beneficial for the growth of the bamboo in the coming year.
