“If it’s moving and shouldn’t, duct tape. If it’s not moving and should, WD-40.”

As a German, this is how we fixed our Railroads the last twenty years.

German engineering crash course:

Does it move? - No!
Should it move? - Yes!
—> WD40

Does it move? - Yes!
Should it move? - No!
—> -Duck Tape- Duct tape (also called duck tape, from the cotton duck cloth it was originally made of)

I love the facial expressions you do when you turn german 😂😂

Using WD-40 to fix a lubrication problem is like putting a sugar packet under the leg of an uneven table. Sure, it'll work for a bit, and it's quick and easy and works for a short-term fix, but it doesn't fix the underlying problem. In the case of WD-40, it can even make the problem worse over time.

Ich schraub auch immer sinnlos am Rahmen rum und pump meinen Gepäckträger auf.. 😂

My dad literally took WD-40 with us on vacation. Most surprising part is that we actually did end up needing and using it quite a bit, because it just works. So as a german, I can confirm, we do use WD-40 all the time and it works

Theres only two kind of engineering problems:
It moves, but shouldn't move = Duct Tape
It doesn't move, but should = WD40

As a German Engineer, i approve!

German engineering: make and design it so it doesn't break for nearly a 100 years, just do small maintence procedures. But every part is so specialized it costs a fortune on the off chance it actually needs to be replaced
British engineering: make and design it so the parts used are easily interchangeable, doing this means the parts are more prone to breaks but parts are cheaper. Last you about 10 to 20 years before things start needing regular replacements. You can generally ignore maintenence outside of bare minimum.
Chinese engineering: make it so it will function for 5 days or uses so they can't return it and they might be stupid enough to buy another exact replica but with a different brand log stenciled on to it.

I absolutely love this guy. I can relate to almost all of his videos as a German

WD-40 and PB Blaster have been a lifesaver for SO many projects

Don't use WD-40 for lubrication. It is a cleaning oil, it is meant to remove oil, particles and rust, but dries out quickly which makes it unsuitable if you want your freshly cleaned parts to be well lubricated on the longer run.

German : Fix his bike alone.
British Guy: Pays a Pole because he can't do it himself.

Is it tight: WD-40
Is it loose: duct tape

In Germany we don’t say “wow my bike is broken! Can’t wait to fix it.” In Germany we say “Verbrenne es”

My bathroom door didn't close all that well lately. Used WD40 today. It's closing smoother than ever before.

As a professional French myself, I can assure you, WD 40 is also widely used here. And not only to make things that should move but don't back into working order. This thing is just a life saver.

Germany here and i never use wd40, there are much better materials for each specific condition.
