The reason her Indian heritage was celebrated when she came to the senate is because she was the first Indian woman to serve in the senate but she wasn't the first black woman to serve in congress so there was no history made when she won the seat. When sworn in as VP, she was the first woman, and biracial to hold that position. It really shouldn't be this difficult. I hope someday as a nation, we can go beyond the labels and just vote on qualification and record.
